The Microfinance Reports Platform project was created thanks to the contribution of The Rating Initiative, a global programme aimed at increasing transparency and encouraging the use of financial and social ratings in the microfinance sector. Launched in 2008, the Initiative was a four-year campaign jointly run by the Luxembourgian and Swiss development agencies. The common platform improves efficiency, serving as a single hub for accessing reports. In the current phase, the scope of the campaign is enriched by the valuable contribution of MIMOSA, a tool to gauge the levels of saturation of microfinance markets. The platform was originally designed to collect, in addition to MFR reports, the rating reports of two other rating agencies, MicroRate and M-CRIL, that currently are not part of the Platform .
